Writing Prompt: I Can Hear You

I can hear you.

It’s in the way you form your words.  Everything and nothing that I do makes your body scream what your mouth works so hard to keep hidden.

But I can hear you.

It’s in the way you sleep, the rise and fall of your chest and those aggressive grunts that sneak out through the night. Then you roll over and smile at me the next morning.

I can hear you.

It’s in the way you tell me about your day. Very detailed, drawn out.  Eyes everywhere but on me, afraid that the truth would be plain to see.

But I can hear you.

It’s in the way you talk about your dreams, your future painted out on your stained canvas. But still, you cake layer over layer.

I heard you.

It was in the way you looked at her. When you came around, her presence was etched in your vibe. your smile was genuine, your sleep was peaceful, your days were eventful but you didn’t let it show.

But I heard you.

It was in the way I removed the stains from your canvas and watched the colors come to life.  Your future: becoming, with her as your wife.
